FUN WITH MOBILE PHONE

FlickrDroid Upload

I have been wanting to do this post for a while, but I just didn't know where to start! I think most photographers can agree with me that photography is more than just a job, it's a passion. I see things as if I am looking at it through a camera lens. So I am always pulling over on the side of the road and taking snap shots. Which is great material for my blog, but my wife HATES it! It makes our road trips twice as long! But I digress. Since I got my brand spanking new Motorolla Droid Phone, I have been just obsessed with taking snap shots on the go. It's nice if I can bring my big 'ol SLR camera with me everywhere I go, but at times it's just not practical. So after browsing through almost all the available applications, I decided on a simple application called FxCamera for Android.

The program is absolutely free and I just love it! The vignetting (on soft setting) is great. It doesn't give you that mom-pop-wedding-portrait-with-oval-vignetting look (yes, I just made that up), and the Toy Cam setting, my favorite, gives you that cool, I am just too artsy-fartsy for you look. There is also a fisheye setting and polaroid setting. I am not such a big fan on the fisheye setting because it's wayyyyy too distorted. But the polaroid setting is pretty cool, I just choose not to use it.

Another great point-n-shoot type of camera that was recommended to me is Rocoh GR Digital III. It has a fast lens at f1.9, and fixed focal length at 28mm. It's just small enough that you can carry around without looking like a photographer.

Here's a snap shot I took while driving around in the neighborhood. If you live in southern california, you know we've been pounded by the rain the last week. The sun finally decided to come out and play today so I took this shot that showed the overhead power lines, blue sky, and the snow covered mountain. I hope you like it!

here's another shot

WEEKEND GETAWAY TO SAN DIEGO

We had a chance for a quick weekend getaway since my engagement shoot in Monterey got cancelled. We had babysitter lined up and off we go! Today we visited old town San Diego, the birth place of california, and visited gas lamp district for dinner and movie. We've been to Old Town San Diego many many times before but we still enjoy coming back. Tomorrow we will be visiting Seaport Village! Now it's off to bed!

We had lunch at Cafe Coyote in old town San Diego. This is a 'must visit' spot for us whenever we visit San Diego. The food is delicious and cheap, and service is always top notch. Five stars! Okay, maybe not, but definitely gets two thumbs up from me.

NIGHT TIME COUPLE PORTRAIT SESSION!

Okay, I have to be honest. I have NEVER done a night time portrait session before. So when I get a courageous couple that is willing to try something new, I jumped right on it! The session took place at the Redlands Farmer's Market night, it was sort of a slow night. I have been there when it was just absolutely packed. Maybe the cold weather had something to do with it.. yes, I know, in Southern California 60 is considered FREEZING, don't hate.

Nichole and Charlie were up for anything I threw at them which was great. We walked around quite a bit for various scenes and different lighting situations. I made a promise to myself, NO FILL FLASH, so it made the shoot even more difficult. I hope you enjoy the pictures! Just a side note, the studio right now is running a special for Valentine's Day portrait sessions. This could be a great gift to mommy & daddy from the kids, it also makes an absolutely perfect gift for each other! Check out my website for more details. here are the pictures.

I love how this shot turned out! I was actually laying flat on my belly on the ground when I got this shot. Yes, on my belly, public sidewalk.....Eww.. whatever it takes to get the shot!

Love the closing shot.

MY LUNCH WAS BETTER THAN YOUR LUNCH

For Christmas (what, you couldn't tell from the traditional American Christmas meal?) , my family usually gets together and have a rare lunch together with everybody. This year we chose a place called New Capital Seafood Restaurant in Rowland Heights, not too far from where we grew up. It's all Dim Sum and I loved it! For those of you that don't know what Dim Sum is, it's essentially small portions of food that are brought straight to your table by steamed carts. It doesn't get any fresher than that!

And after lunch we went back to my parents' house and had our annual gift exchange, where my parents also debuted their brand spanking new Mercedes ML350. That's a nice car, I don't care what angle you look at it. And trust me, I did look at it from every angle. Enjoy the pictures!

RYAN'S 2ND YEAR PORTRAIT SESSION

I LOVE repeat clients! It's great that clients have me take their pictures one time, but for them to come back a SECOND time is huge. Ryan's parents is one of those cool clients. I had the honor of photographing Ryan about 6 months ago,and you can click here to see the photos from that session. It's just fun to see how much my understanding of photography has grown since that time, too!

Anyways, we had so much fun taking pictures of Ryan, even though he refused to climb up a tree branch for us. I brought my secret weapon the bubble gun, and we had a blast making bubbles....trying to take the bubble gun away from Ryan is a different story! Enjoy the pictures.

WEBSITE IS GOING ONLINE....NOW!!!

www.jeremychouphotoworks.net

It's official!! Redesign for the website is done done, and done. I will still be updating portfolio section and some more information about the company, but overall I am finally done! Here are some key additions to the website;

1. There will be a link to my new online gallery. Now even grandma in North Dakota can see the photos and order prints! The company I chose was www.smugmug.com. They offer a variety of products that I think will be very popular! Including canvas prints!

the online gallery will be hosted at http://jeremychouphotoworks.smugmug.com/

2. New rates are in effect for 2010! But if you've contacted me in 2009, the old rate is still good.

3. Since I have the absolute BEST clients in the whole wide world, we are starting a section called "raves." When clients send us nice things we will be posting that in this section.

4. There will be an additional section under portfolio that will be a mixed bag of all pictures I've taken. Although my main passion is people, sometimes I will still take photos of landscape, architecture, random objects, or just whatever that catches my eye.

If you have ANY comments about the website I'd absolutely LOVE to hear from you. drop me a line at jeremy@jeremychouphotoworks.net
